Welcome to the Journey Within
Episode 1 · Slide 1
Picture a woman standing alone at the end of a long wooden dock.
The lake in front of her is so still it has turned the mountains upside down and laid them gently on the water. The sun is just clearing the ridge, throwing a path of gold straight across the surface — and that golden path leads, impossibly, right to her feet. She isn’t rushing. She isn’t checking her phone. She is simply standing at the edge of something vast and quiet, in a white dress, looking out at a world that for once is not asking her for anything.
I want you to know something about that woman before we go one step further.
She is not on vacation. She did not wake up like this. Three months ago — maybe three days ago — she was the one lying awake at 2 a.m. doing math she didn’t want to do, rehearsing a conversation that already happened, bracing for a Monday that hadn’t arrived yet. She was the one who caught her own reflection in the microwave door and looked away. She is every one of us on the morning we finally got tired of carrying it.
That dock is not a place. It’s a decision. And you just made it, or you wouldn’t be holding this book.
So let me say it plainly, the way I wish someone had said it to me when I was standing at my own edge: welcome. Welcome to the journey within — the one that doesn’t require a plane ticket, a new partner, a smaller jeans size, or anyone’s permission. The only journey that has ever actually changed a human life starts on the inside and works its way out. Everything else is decoration.
Here is the promise I make to you, and I keep my promises: I am not going to stand at the front of the room and tell you to “think positive.” I think you’re smarter than that, and frankly so am I. What I’m going to do is walk you toward the one place almost nobody taught you to look — the enormous, powerful, quietly-running part of your own mind that has been writing the script of your life while you weren’t looking.
You’ve been the actor. It’s time you read the script. And then — oh, this is the good part — it’s time you picked up the pen.
Take my hand. Let’s walk out onto the dock together. The water’s beautiful, I promise, even the deep parts.
On the slideHypnotherapy is a guided state of deep relaxation and focused attention that helps you access the subconscious mind. In that state, positive change becomes more natural, more powerful, and more lasting.
Episode 1 · Slide 2
What Is Hypnotherapy?
Episode 1 · Slide 2
Let’s clear something up right away, because I can practically hear what some of you are thinking.
When I tell people at a dinner party that I’m a hypnotherapist, I can watch the whole table do the same little movie in their heads. A swinging pocket watch. A goatee. Someone clucking like a chicken in front of two hundred strangers in Vegas. One gentleman once leaned over and asked me, completely seriously, if I could make his wife stop spending money. (I told him I work in transformation, not magic, and that his marriage sounded like a separate appointment.)
So here is the truth, and it’s so much better than the cartoon.
Hypnotherapy is simply a guided state of deep relaxation and focused attention. That’s it. That’s the whole mysterious secret. It is the feeling of being so absorbed in a good book that you don’t hear someone calling your name. It’s the drive home where you arrive in your driveway and realize you don’t remember the last three turns — because your conscious mind clocked out and the deeper part of you drove you safely home. It’s those few golden minutes right before you fall asleep, when the day’s noise finally quiets and your imagination starts to drift and glow.
You have been in and out of that state your entire life. You were in it five times yesterday. Nobody ever taught you to use it on purpose.
Look at the woman in this image. Her eyes are closed, her face is soft, and above her, in lines of gold light, her mind has quietly opened like a flower. She is not unconscious. She is not asleep. She is more aware, not less — the way a flashlight gets brighter when you stop waving it around and aim it at one thing.
That focused beam is the entire point. In ordinary life, your attention is sprayed in forty directions — the inbox, the bills, the kid’s permission slip, the thing your mother said in 2009. In this state, we gather all that scattered light into a single, gentle, powerful point. And we aim it at the part of you that’s actually running the show.
Because here’s what I learned the hard way, lying in a hospital bed with my own life on the line: you cannot think your way out of a problem that your feelings built. The conscious, thinking mind — the one reading these words — is willing but weak. It makes New Year’s resolutions on January 1st and surrenders by January 9th. We’ve all met that mind. We’ve all been that mind.
Real, lasting change doesn’t live up there in the chatter. It lives underneath. And in the next breath, I’m going to show you exactly where.
On the slideYour subconscious mind stores beliefs, habits, memories, and emotional patterns. When we work at that level, we can release what no longer serves you and create new empowering patterns at the source. — Conscious mind: 5–10%. Subconscious mind: 90–95%.
Episode 1 · Slide 3
Why It Works
Episode 1 · Slide 3
If you remember one image from this entire book, let it be this one.
An iceberg, floating in a steel-grey sea. Above the waterline, a clean white peak catches the light — sharp, visible, impressive. And it is almost nothing. That gleaming tip is five to ten percent of the whole. Beneath the surface, descending into the deep blue dark, is the rest of it — a cathedral of ice so massive it makes the visible peak look like a hat. Ninety to ninety-five percent of the iceberg lives where the sun never reaches.
That iceberg is you. It’s every one of us.
The tip — the part above the water — is your conscious mind. It’s the part doing the reading right now, the part that makes the to-do list, the part that says “this year I’ll finally start.” It’s real, and it matters, but it is a sliver. It is the hat on the iceberg.
Everything below — that vast, silent, blue-black cathedral — is your subconscious mind. And look closely at what the image tells us is stored down there: beliefs. habits. memories. emotions. patterns. Five quiet words that have been quietly running your entire life.
Let me make this real, because I don’t deal in theory. I deal in 6 a.m. and the mirror.
Have you ever known, consciously, completely, that you are worthy of love — and still chosen the partner who couldn’t give it? Have you ever known the cake wasn’t going to fix the feeling — and eaten it standing up at the kitchen counter anyway, barely tasting it? Have you ever known you’re good at your job — and still heard a voice the second before a big meeting whisper, who do you think you are?
That gap — the canyon between what you know up top and what you do down below — has made more people feel crazy and broken than almost anything I know. And here is the news that changes everything, so read it twice:
You are not crazy. You are not weak. You are not broken. You are simply being run by a program you did not write and cannot see.
The belief got installed when you were small — maybe by a teacher who announced your limits to an entire classroom, in a loud voice, while your cheeks burned. (I know that one personally.) The habit got built in a season when it actually protected you. The emotional pattern made perfect sense at the time it formed. None of it is a character flaw. All of it is just code, written long ago, still running.
And code that was written can be rewritten.
That is why we don’t do this work up at the surface, with willpower and gritted teeth and one more desperate resolution. We don’t chip at the tip of the iceberg with a teaspoon. We go down to where the patterns actually live, into the quiet deep — and we change them at the source. Release what no longer serves you. Plant something new and strong in the place where the old thing grew.
Change the root, and the whole tree changes. That’s not motivation. That’s mechanics. And it’s the most hopeful sentence I know.
On the slideA gentle overview of your hypnotherapy experience: Deep Relaxation — you will feel calm, safe, and at ease. Focused Attention — you will be gently guided with soothing words and imagery. Positive Change — we work to reframe limiting beliefs and strengthen empowering suggestions. You Are Always in Control — you can hear, speak, and open your eyes at any time.

What to Expect
Episode 1 · Slide 4
The fear of the unknown is its own kind of prison, so let me unlock that door for you right now and show you exactly what’s on the other side. No surprises. People relax faster when they know the shape of the room.
First, deep relaxation. Imagine sinking into the most comfortable chair you’ve ever felt, the kind that seems to exhale when you do. Your shoulders — which, let’s be honest, have been quietly trying to become earrings for the last several years — finally come down from around your ears. Your breath slows. There is nothing to perform, nothing to fix, nowhere to be. You will feel calm, safe, and at ease. For a lot of my clients, this alone is the first true rest they’ve had in months, and a few of them tear up just from the relief of being allowed to stop.
Second, focused attention. This is where my voice becomes a guide, walking beside you. I’ll paint pictures with soothing words — a staircase, a doorway, a warm light, a garden — and your beautiful imagination will do what imaginations do: it will go there. You’re not forcing anything. You’re just following a gentle trail of words deeper into your own inner landscape, the way you’d follow lantern light down a path at dusk.
Third, positive change. Here is the actual work, and it is quiet, not dramatic. Together we find the limiting belief — the old “I’m not enough,” the dusty “it’s too late for me” — and we gently loosen its grip. Then, in its place, we plant something true and strong, in a state where your deep mind is finally listening. We don’t argue with the old program. We simply offer a better one and let the deeper part of you choose it.
And fourth — underline this, star it, tattoo it somewhere polite — you are always in control. Always. This is the one that dissolves the most fear, so hear me clearly: you are not unconscious. You are not under my power, or anyone’s. You can hear every word. You can speak. You can shift in your seat, scratch your nose, or open your eyes and walk out the door at any moment you choose. I am not the driver of this car. I am the GPS in the passenger seat, and you can turn me off whenever you like. You are, and always remain, the one behind the wheel.
Four little cards on a dark, elegant table. Calm. Focus. Change. Control. That’s the whole experience. Nothing is done to you here. Everything is done with you. You are safe in this. I made sure of it before you ever sat down.
On the slideMyth: You lose control. Truth: You are always in control. Myth: You can get stuck. Truth: You can come out at any time. Myth: It is like sleep. Truth: You are relaxed, aware, and focused. Myth: It is mind control. Truth: It is a tool for self-empowerment. Safe. Natural. Effective.

Common Myths
Episode 1 · Slide 5
Hollywood has done my profession dirty, and today we set the record straight — because the myths aren’t just silly, they’re the very walls keeping good people away from the help they’re aching for. Let’s knock them down one at a time, like the cardboard cutouts they are.
“You’ll lose control.” This is the big one, the one that keeps people in the parking lot. The truth is the exact opposite. You don’t lose control — for maybe the first time in years, you actually take it. Most of us are being driven around by an anxious autopilot all day long. This work is where you finally climb into the driver’s seat and put your own hands on the wheel.
“What if I get stuck there?” Nobody has ever gotten stuck. Not one human being in the history of the practice. It is not a trap or a tunnel; it’s a state as natural as daydreaming. You drift in, and you can drift out any time you please. If the building caught fire, you’d get up and leave like anyone else — probably faster, because you’d be so relaxed you’d forget to panic.
“Isn’t it just like being asleep?” Not at all. Asleep, you’re gone — the lights are off. Here, the lights are up. You’re relaxed, yes, but you’re aware and focused, often more aware than in your scattered everyday mind. People are frequently surprised by how present they feel, how clearly they remember every word afterward.
“Isn’t it mind control?” Oh, sweetheart, if I could control minds I’d have far bigger problems than helping you — I’d be running a small country. This is the opposite of someone controlling your mind. It is you, taking the controls of your own mind, many of them for the very first time. It is the single most self-directed thing a person can do.
Notice the three little words anchoring the bottom of this image: Safe. Natural. Effective.
Safe, because you never leave your own authority. Natural, because your brain already does this on its own several times a day. Effective, because when you finally speak to the deep mind in its own language, it listens — and it answers.
The fear was never real. The cartoon was never you. Set it down. There’s nothing to be afraid of here but how much better things can actually get.

The Benefits
Episode 1 · Slide 6
Now let’s talk about what actually changes — not in theory, but in the ordinary Tuesday of your real life. Because that’s where transformation either shows up or it doesn’t. Look at these six golden doorways and let me tell you who walks through each one, because I’ve watched them do it.
Reduce stress and anxiety. This is the woman whose chest has been tight for so long she forgot it isn’t supposed to feel like that. She’s carried a low electric hum of dread for years — about money, about her kids, about a vague catastrophe that never quite arrives but never quite leaves either. Imagine the hum just… switching off. Imagine shoulders that stay down. That’s door number one.
Improve sleep and relaxation. This is the 3 a.m. person. You know the one — maybe you are the one. The body is exhausted but the mind throws a rave the second the head hits the pillow, replaying arguments and rehearsing disasters. Imagine teaching that mind to power down on command, the way it’s supposed to. Imagine actually sleeping.
Build confidence and self-esteem. Look at her in the picture — hands on her hips, facing the sunrise like she owns it. That isn’t arrogance. That’s a woman who finally stopped waiting for the room’s permission to take up space. So many of us shrink ourselves to fit other people’s comfort. This door is where you stop apologizing for existing.
Break unwanted habits. See the chain in the image, snapping in a burst of light? That’s the cigarette you swore off a hundred times. The nightly wine that stopped being a treat and started being a crutch. The phone-scroll that eats your evenings. We don’t white-knuckle these away — we go down and pull the root, so the craving loses its grip from underneath.
Enhance focus and motivation. This is for the dreamer with twelve half-finished projects and a garage full of good intentions. (No judgment — I’ve been the garage.) When the inner static clears, the path lights up like that golden road in the image, and suddenly you’re not dragging yourself forward; you’re being pulled.
Support healing and well-being. The stacked stones in still water. This is the deep one, the one I owe my life to. The mind and the body are not roommates who barely speak — they are one continuous conversation. When you bring peace to the mind, the body hears it. I am living, breathing, rebuilt-from-the-inside proof of that.
Six doors. Every one of them opens from your side. And you don’t have to walk through all of them today — you just have to pick one and put your hand on the knob.
On the slide01 Talk — we discuss your goals and challenges. 02 Relax — you enter a calm, focused state. 03 Reframe — we release what holds you back. 04 Transform — you move forward with clarity and confidence.

How It All Comes Together
Episode 1 · Slide 7
If the iceberg told you why this works, this golden path tells you how — the actual four steps, lit up like lanterns leading down to the water. There’s no mystery to the road. Let me walk it with you.
One: Talk. We begin the way two humans should — face to face, with honesty. You tell me what’s really going on, not the polished version you give at parties. The goal you’re scared to say out loud. The thing that keeps tripping you. I listen the way I learned to listen as a small girl crossing a classroom toward someone who was hurting — with my whole attention and zero judgment. This step alone heals more than people expect, because so few of us have ever been truly heard.
Two: Relax. Now we quiet the noise. We move out of the frantic, scattered everyday mind and into that calm, focused state we’ve been describing — the comfortable chair, the slow breath, the gathered light. This is where the surface settles enough that we can finally see down into the deep.
Three: Reframe. This is the heart of it. In that quiet, open state, we find the old story — I’m not enough, it’s too late, I always ruin this — and we gently, respectfully, release its grip. Then we offer a truer story in its place. We don’t bully the old belief out the door; we simply open a window and let in better light. The deep mind, finally addressed in its own language, begins to choose the new pattern.
Four: Transform. And then you walk forward — see her in the image, moving down the dock toward the sunrise — lighter, clearer, more you than before. Transformation isn’t a lightning bolt. It’s the quiet realization, two weeks later, that the thing that used to wreck you just… didn’t. That you paused where you used to panic. That you chose where you used to react.
Talk. Relax. Reframe. Transform. Four stepping-stones across the river, each one solid under your foot before you reach for the next. You don’t leap the whole distance. You just take the next step. I’ll be right beside you on every stone.
On the slideThe more open, consistent, and committed you are, the more powerful your results. You are not just a passenger in this process. You are an active partner in your own transformation.
Episode 1 · Slide 8
Your Role
Episode 1 · Slide 8
I need to have a loving, honest word with you now — the kind a true friend has when the stakes are high. Because there’s a temptation hiding in every book like this one, and I’d be cheating you if I didn’t name it.
The temptation is to believe that I am the magic. That the hypnotherapist, the book, the technique — that this is the thing that will fix you, if you can just sit still and receive it. And I understand why that’s tempting. It’s exhausting to be the one responsible for your own life. Wouldn’t it be lovely if someone else could just… do it for you?
But look at the woman on this mountaintop, arms thrown wide open to the rising sun. Nobody put her there. Nobody carried her up. She climbed, and now she’s standing at the summit with her whole heart open to the sky. That open posture — that’s the secret the image is telling you. You are not a passenger in this process. You are an active partner in your own transformation.
I am not your savior. I would make a terrible one, and you don’t need one anyway. What I am is a guide who knows this particular mountain because I’ve fallen down most of it. I can show you the path, point out the loose rocks, and walk right beside you. But you have to do your own walking. I cannot want your freedom more than you want it. No one can.
Here’s the beautiful part, though, and it’s the most freeing thing I know: this means you are not powerless. If your transformation depended entirely on me, you’d be at my mercy. But it doesn’t. It depends on you — on how open, how consistent, how committed you’re willing to be. Which means the power was in your hands the whole time. You just had to be told to close your fingers around it.
Open, consistent, committed. Show up willing to look. Show up more than once. Show up even on the days you don’t feel like it — especially those days, because those are the ones that build the new you. Do that, and there is almost nothing the deep mind can’t help you change.
I’ll bring everything I have. I just need you to bring you. Deal? Good. Climb on.
On the slideYou do not have to stay stuck. You do not have to struggle alone. Change is possible, and it can start here. You are worth the transformation you seek.
Episode 1 · Slide 9
This Is Your Time
Episode 1 · Slide 9
Sit with this image for a moment before you read another word. A woman, alone at the water’s edge at sunset — and beside her, a giant golden hourglass. But look closer at what’s inside the glass: not just falling sand, but a staircase made of light, climbing up out of the bottom toward a glowing doorway. The very thing that measures your time is also showing you the way up.
That’s not decoration. That’s a message, and the message is for you.
You do not have to stay stuck. I know it feels permanent. Stuck has a way of dressing itself up as “just how I am,” “just how my family is,” “just how life turned out.” But stuck is not an identity. It’s a pattern — and you’ve already learned, three slides ago, that patterns can be rewritten. The walls you’ve been pacing inside are made of old code, not concrete. They look solid until the day you touch them and your hand goes through.
You do not have to struggle alone. Oh, how I needed someone to tell me this. There was a stretch of my life — weight I didn’t recognize, a marriage in pieces, a hospital bed and fifteen minutes to decide whether to live — when I was certain that alone was simply my permanent address. It wasn’t. And yours isn’t either. The aloneness lies to you. It tells you no one would understand, that you’re the only one, that you’re too far gone. Every word of that is a lie the struggle tells to keep you small and silent.
Change is possible, and it can start here. Not next year, when things calm down. (They won’t calm down; they never do; “when things calm down” is the most expensive lie in the human language.) Not when you’re thinner, richer, braver, more ready. Here. On this page. In this ordinary, holy moment, with this book open in your lap and your heart cracked open just enough to hope.
And the last line on the image — I want you to put your hand over your heart and read it as if I’m saying it directly to you, because I am: you are worth the transformation you seek.
Not once you earn it. Not after you’ve suffered enough to deserve it. Now. As you are. In this exact unfinished, imperfect, beautiful condition. You were worth it before you ever picked up this book, and you’ll be worth it on the days you forget it.
The sand is falling either way, my friend. It falls whether you reach for the staircase or not. So you may as well climb. This — right now — is your time.
On the slideYou are not alone. 1. Book Your Session. 2. Clarify Your Goal. 3. Show Up Open and Relaxed. 4. Begin Your Transformation. Your next chapter can begin now.
Episode 1 · Slide 10
Next Steps
Episode 1 · Slide 10
Every dream dies in the gap between inspired and I’ll start Monday. So before that gap can swallow what you’re feeling right now, let’s turn this warmth in your chest into something with a date on it. Look at that glowing doorway in the image, lanterns lighting the stone path toward the light. Four simple steps walk you through it.
One: Book your session. Or, since you’re holding a book and not yet on my calendar — make the appointment with yourself. Open the journal at the end of this chapter. Put a real time on a real day in your real calendar. “Someday” is not a day of the week. Decide when you will sit down and begin, and treat that appointment as if it matters, because it is the most important meeting on your schedule: it’s the one where you show up for your own life.
Two: Clarify your goal. Fuzzy goals get fuzzy results. “I want to feel better” is a wish. “I want to walk into my sister’s wedding without that knot of dread in my stomach” — now that the deep mind can work with. We’re going to get specific together in the pages ahead. The clearer the target, the truer the aim.
Three: Show up open and relaxed. You don’t have to believe every word yet. You don’t have to have it figured out. You just have to crack the door of your willingness wide enough for a little light to get in. Curiosity is plenty. Bring that.
Four: Begin your transformation. And then — you start. Not perfectly. Not all at once. You take the first stone. Because a journey of a thousand miles and a journey of one honest page both begin the exact same way: with a single, deliberate step that you choose to take.
Read the words glowing at the bottom of that doorway one more time: your next chapter can begin now.
Not the next chapter of this book — although, yes, turn the page when you’re ready. The next chapter of you. The version of you that you’ve been quietly hoping was still possible. She is. He is. It is. And it begins exactly here, with what you’re about to write below.
So let’s stop reading about the journey, and take the first real step on it. The doorway’s open. The light’s on. I’m already through it, holding the door, waving you forward.
Come on. Your turn.
